About Me

Hi Welcome, I’m Sarah,

I have 2 great kids, Lillie is 7, she loves shopping and moshi monsters and all things princess and girly. Charlie is 4 years old, he loves angry birds, lego, ninjas and all things Star Wars. Charlie is our selective eater, and along our journey to find answers as to why he struggles so much with food and how we can best help him he has been diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Sensory Processing Disorder. I have named the blog Cheerios, milk and spoon as that’s what Charlie has lived on for the last 3 and a half years, every meal of every day with very few exceptions.

The blog name reminds me of the cute way he asks for it “cheerios munk and spooooooon pease mummy?”

We are blessed to have sociable, healthy children who get along well with each other most of the time. I hope you will enjoy getting to know them better.

I have been happily married to Papa Cheerio for almost 10 years. We live in the north of England UK and have interesting, crazy busy lives. Working, studying, bringing up kids, church, school, running a business, hosting language students in our home and now my new hobby blogging. The fun never stops!

I am kind of addicted to chocolate, facebook and I love spending time with my children and my friends.

  1. Hey, I wanted to let you know that I nominated your blog for the Most Influential blog Award – I guess it is kind of like a chain letter. I don’t know if you are into this type of thing – I did want you to know that I appreciate your blog and what it adds to my day when I have a chance to read your posts. You can go to my blog at http://dailycoloringoutsidethelines.wordpress.com/2013/11/23/the-most-influential-blogger-award/ to get more information.

  2. I found your blog through diary of a Mom…
I just read the post about Bring Grandma…I could relate to so much. My son has Ehlers Danlos and accompanying sensory issues. Oh and we have had similar advice about feeding issues..
    And he too loves Cheerios..
We are in the North of the UK but have found very little help either school or medically.
Thank you for sharing your story.

    • Thanks Jo
I’m glad you found us, I love Diary of a Mom she is so inspiring.
We are in Liverpool and its been a nightmare trying to get any help medically, so we have been paying privately for Occupational therapy because it helps so much but I always want to fight to get the same help available for others on the NHS because its not fair that some people are struggling so much trying to find ways to help their kids and have never even heard of the therapies which are available. School is a little better but only because he is in an assessment unit which is managed by a special school while we apply for statutory assessment, so they have time to understand his needs and help him.
Thanks for visiting, hope you enjoy the rest of the blog
      Sarah x

  3. I just looked at your facebook page…Wow and thank you. There are some really good articles. I like the one about selective eating…
Going through this with two children and had failure to thrive knocking on the door…
We too had lousy advice around it all. No one thought it could all be inter related…
Sensory based OT is so incredibly helpful. We had to figure it out mainly on our own. Lots of time in the park when no one else is around. It is paying off. Seeing steady improvements. We are now home schooling due to no one understanding.
    Good luck to you all.
